From the start, our clients had a unique vision for the transformation of their home and we were tasked with exploring a playful expression of bold colours and materials.
The existing galley kitchen has been opened up and adjoined to a new wraparound side return extension, to create an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting / play area, that opens on to the small garden. A new downstairs cloakroom and utility room has been introduced in the middle of the floor plan, whist the front room has been enlarged and refreshed with bespoke joinery and a new colour palette.
Whilst clad in a traditional brick, the assymmetry of the roof pitch creates a contemporary look to the extension, and the large rooflights allow an abundance of natural light to wash inside. Through exploring a wide range of material palettes, the resulting space is dominated by the expressed steel structure painted in a bright orange colour, which pops alongside the deep green of the kitchen cabinets, the rich texture of the wooden flooring and internal brick, and the more minimal subdued tones of the walls and joinery.
The result is a fun and vivid space that is unique and expressive of our clients personalities.
